Day 1
Day 1

Departure 10:00am from hotel in Uyuni
We visit first the Cementerio de trenes in the surroundings of the town of Uyuni.
30km drive to the salar de Uyuni with previous stop at the margins, to the Crafts village of Colchani.
Once entered the salar the main places visited are:
Minas de sal: salt digging spots
Museo de sal: former hotel made of salt and gathering place for visitors to have lunch. It is also the spot where you find the Bolivia monument (former Dakar) and the world flags.
Isla incahuasi: impressive coral rock hill. It is a sanctuary of giant cactus. You can hike up to the summit or wander through the labyrinth of cactus around it. The view is amazing floating on the immense extension of whiteness. This is also the place to have a nice picnic for the day.
We continue across the salar with northwest direction to the foothills of the volcan Tunupa, the largest volcano around it. We reach the "coastal" village of Coqueza. With good fitness conditions, you may reach the mirador of the volcan Tunupa and the Mummie Caves.
First Night Hotel Tambo Coquesa or Tayka de Sal in the nearby Tahua.
The dinner is included at the hotel.

Please note: the water and beverages during dinner are not included.

Day 2
Day 2

Departure 07:00am from hotel

We go south and start our stops around the village of San Pedro de Quemez, with its burned up ruins.

In the route the main places visited are:
- Mirador Caltama
- Pueblos altiplánicos
- Salar de Chiguana
- Mirador Volcan Ollague
- Ruta de Joyas: scenographic trail along the multi-colored lagunas altiplánicas
- Desierto Siloli: this vast area with soft ondulations of the desert is where the hotel is located, alone in this out the world landscape.

Second night in Hotel Tayka del Desierto in Ojo de Perdiz, at 4500 meters altitude. This is the highest and most remote hotel of the trip.

The dinner is included at the hotel.

Please note: the water and beverages during dinner are not included.

Day 3
Day 3

Departure at 05:30am from hotel.

Early departure, since today we have to go towards Chile and the other jewels of the South Lipez highland region.

Main places visited are:
- Árbol de piedra: stone tree in the highland desert.
- Laguna Colorada: an explosion of red in a handpainted valley. And thousands of pink flamingos in the red lagoon...
- Geyser sol de mañana:  we reach kind of a "andean hell". It is the highest point of the trip, almost 5,000 meters. This place may be dangerous if you do not watch your step and keep distance from the shooting geysers and the fuming boiling mud pits.
In Bolivia there are no barriers to these natural manifestations but we stop with an ample safety distance.
- Termas de polques: a hotspring pool where you can bathe. It is very rustic but equipped with changing cabins. The entrance is 6 bolivianos, roughly $1 usd. We also have a picnic in this area.

Other places visited: Laguna chalviri
- Laguna verde
- Laguna blanca

Then we start our way back to Uyuni, passing by Pueblo de Alota and San Cristobal.

Return to Uyuni around 5.00pm (time may vary since many factors are in place, among which the road is a dirt trail and can be slowed down by climate conditions.
